Google has a screen reader for pages. It’s called Accessibility View.
If you just need to type text, then write it down and it will be read to you.

A:

I’ve recently tried NVDA and found it a bit slow, but when it does catch something it’s spot on, its also free as well.
It can be downloaded here

There is also Jaws which is free and a very fast reader, however this is a program for Windows and needs you to install it before you can use it.

A first approach to the quantification of the longitudinal distribution of osteophytes in the human temporomandibular joint: a preliminary study using three-dimensional CT and its interpretation in clinical practice.
This study was designed to investigate the accuracy of a volumetric method based on a three-dimensional (3D) CT analysis for the measurement of the longitudinal distribution of osteophytes in the human temporomandibular joint (TMJ). In addition, the authors developed a new simplified model for the calculation of the total area of the articular surface covered by osteophytes. A total of 60 3D CT images of the TMJ were obtained from the postmortem bodies of deceased donors. A single, frontal, 3D CT scan (3 mm slice thickness) was obtained through the intercondylar fossa. The anterior and posterior joint walls were reconstructed with a 3D software package (Analyze v. 8.02, Brain Rat Corp., Chicago, IL) using a modified OsiriX v. 3.0.1 interface program. The 2D surface area covered by osteophytes was measured on each of the anterior and posterior articular walls, and a 3D surface area was calculated using the modified software. The 3D joint volumes were determined by summing the right and left sides. The joint volumes and total surface areas of the articular surfaces covered by osteophytes were calculated using the following formula: (volume of 1 cm3) = (volume of the top/side/bottom/column) x (side length of the scan)/3. All the values obtained were statistically analyzed. The mean values for the 3D volumes and total surface areas of the articular surfaces covered by osteophytes of the right TMJ were 6.48 +/- 2.05 cm3 and 8.91 +/- 3.03 cm2, respectively

History
Tally-Ho is based on a screen reader originally called Scrietor, written by Kenji Doki. After he released it to the public, it inspired a spin-off which is now called Tally-Ho.

When he was using this screen reader, he noticed that it needed to be improved. He then started working on a new version called Tally-Ho and finished it when he was a bit under 25 years old.

Today, Tally-Ho still uses Tesseract, but it also reads PDF and other file formats.

The name

The name Tally-Ho comes from the fact that its main goal is to read the first page of the PDF you make with Tesseract.

How to make a PDF?

If you click the “Tally-Ho screen reader” text on the toolbar, it will show you how to make a PDF.

It will also let you know how many pages you have in your PDF, how many words and how many lines
